As Content Lead, I wrote/rewrote all website content using best SEO-practices, including treatment and product descriptions. I also write company newsletters and articles for FACE’s blog.

 

INSTITUTE FOR INNOVATION & ECONOMIC

DEVELOPMENT

The Institute for Innovation and Economic Development (iiED) is an institute of CSUMB's College of Business and works collaboratively with other regional organizations to create and support businesses and entrepreneurs, promote inclusivity, community, and ecology and create prosperity in Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz counties. I currently report on iiED news, write articles featuring entrepreneurs and companies that have benefitted from iiED’s programs, and promote the Institute’s upcoming events.

 

SANTA CRuZ tech beat

Santa Cruz Tech Beat is a local tech news digest, that posts events, jobs, thought leadership, resources, and business catalog for Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito Counties. I served as Director of Production for SCTB from January-August 2020, during which time I wrote numerous articles covering the local tech scene and conducted a “Five in Five” series of Zoom interviews focusing on local businesses and nonprofits adjusting to the COVID-19 shutdowns.

 

1440 Multiversity

1440 Multiversity is a non-profit health and wellness retreat and education center in Scotts Valley, CA. I originally joined 1440 to rebuild the organization’s Wordpress-based website from wireframes during a CMS overhaul, then became the organization digital content technician, assuming all web responsibilities, including blog publishing, landing page design and creation, and search engine optimization. In addition, I build weekly newsletters and eblasts, write newsletter copy, manage the company’s Eventbrite page, create social media posts and track analytics.

Wildflower Financial is a Santa Cruz-based financial planning business who struggled to improve their search ranking. The founder tasked me with writing content in her voice and style to increase site traffic. I designed an SEO content strategy that drove their ranking from the third page of Google search results to one of the top results on the first page.

frogville farms

Frogville Farms is a Green Certified Cannabis Farm in the Sierra Nevada foothills seeking help with brand identity, site design, and web copy. I visited the farm with colleague, designer Niki Selken, where we conducted brand identification exercises in preparation a total website design and content overhaul. I developed an SEO content strategy, while Niki branded and designed their website, in line with our client's holistic health and wellness brand.

Emoji foundation

The Emoji Foundation is a online resource for emoji art, games, and news, and semantics. It is also home to the Emoji Dictionary, a crowd-sourced guide to individual emoji meanings, similar to urban dictionary. As Content Manager of Emoji Foundation, I write SEO enhanced blog posts about emoji news, events, translation, events and culture, such as Can Computers “Get” Emoji? EmojiNet Says YES! and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 7 Emoji Recap. I keep the director abreast of any website SEO issues, developed a profanity filter for Emoji Dictionary, and continue to monitor site activity.

Mad Jack Snowsports

Mad Jack Snowsports created a ski adaption system to allow winter sports enthusiasts to use snowboarding boots while skiing. The company reached out to me to create five marketing case studies based on interviews with early adapters. I interviewed five adapters who embodied different market segments, then wrote and formatted SEO-enhanced case studies for company use.
